Short-term traineeship within or outside Europe
Would you like to gain international experience during your studies? With Mobility Option 5, you can complete a traineeship abroad for 30 to 59 days at an organisation in or elsewhere in the world. Check whether this option is part of your programme via the programme offerings.
Please note that there are no grants available for this type of mobility.
Application procedure
The first steps are the same for all international opportunities. You can find them on the application page below.
Where can you do a traineeship?
You can do a traineeship at a wide range of organisations in the public or private sector, regardless of their size or field of activity.
For this type of mobility, you will usually arrange your traineeship directly with the organisation rather than through a partner university. Make sure to discuss your plans with your departmental coordinator internationalisation at an early stage. Depending on your programme, you may be able to choose from an existing list of traineeships, or you may need to find a host organisation yourself.
Finding your own traineeship? Start your search early. Your departmental coordinator internationalisation needs enough time to review and approve the host organisation before your mobility can be confirmed.
After you apply
Once you have submitted your application, you will complete the following steps:
-
1
Preparation
Over the next few months, you’ll prepare for your exchange. You will find a host organisation, improve your language skills, learn more about your destination and traineeship, arrange your accommodation, and complete the necessary paperwork, including a visa if required.
Make sure to check our website for information about insurance, practical travel advice and health and safety.

Advice
After the examination period following your application, your departmental coordinator internationalisation will review your application and provide feedback. If the outcome is not positive, you can get in contact to discuss the decision and ask any questions you may have.

Learning Agreement for Traineeships (LA)

DEADLINE: submit your fully signed Learning Agreement at least one month before the start of your traineeship. If possible, submit it earlier.
After the Learning Agreement has been approved, changes can only be made with the agreement of both your departmental coordinator internationalisation and your supervisor at the host organisation. Any changes must be reported to your departmental coordinator and the International Relations Office within one month of the start of your traineeship.
