Go Abroad

International experiences enrich both your education and your perspective on the world. At Odisee, there are several ways to gain an international experience.

You can study at a higher education institution abroad, do a traineeship abroad, or participate in international projects. You decide how far you want to go. During an international experience, you will be immersed in a different language and culture, learn to navigate new situations, and put your knowledge into practice. This helps you grow not only professionally but also personally and is a major asset for your future career.

Even without packing your bags, you are part of an international environment. On our campuses, you will meet students from all over the world and learn to see things from different perspectives.

Inclusive Mobility

At Odisee, we believe that every student should have the opportunity to grow in an international context. That is why we are committed to providing accessible mobility opportunities and appropriate guidance.

Do you have specific support needs? If so, we will work with you to identify the support and resources available to help you make the most of your experience abroad. In addition, some grant programmes offer extra funding for students who need support. In some cases, a preparatory visit to the host institution can also be arranged.

What options are there?

At Odisee, as a student, you will have plenty of opportunities to gain international experience, ranging from short-term mobility programmes to longer stays both at home and abroad. Even if you don’t go abroad, you will still be exposed to international perspectives. Through international students, visiting lecturers, international projects, and international course content, we bring the world to the classroom.

    Exchanges Across the Language Border

You don’t always have to cross national borders to gain international experience. At Odisee, you can also study across the Belgian language border. As part of the Business Management programme, you will follow a unique dual-degree track with our French-speaking partner, EPHEC, which allows you to earn two degrees upon graduation.
Students from various other programmes can also complete a traineeship with one of our Walloon study and traineeship partners, thereby strengthening their French language skills.
  5. 5

    Blended Mobility

Would you like to gain international experience without spending months abroad? Then a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) might be right for you! Together with students from all over Europe, you will work on a current topic during an international week. You will learn to collaborate in an intercultural environment, discover different perspectives, and build valuable connections. In-person mobility is combined with a digital component, so that collaboration continues online as well.
An international experience without financial worries

Studying Abroad on a Grant

An international experience doesn’t have to be a financial barrier. For exchange programmes within and outside Europe, you can often count on a grant. The exact amount of financial support depends on the destination and the applicable conditions.

These grants do not affect your eligibility for a Flemish student grant or your right to reduced tuition fees.

For the behavioral study part of my bachelor’s thesis, I went to Fundacio Mona, a chimpanzee sanctuary in Girona. It’s located in northeastern Spain and is therefore easily accessible by TGV. That’s why it was an easy decision to take the train. I was able to relax and enjoy the passing scenery while getting some work done on my computer. The fact that the price was lower than a plane ticket was a nice bonus. The TGV arrives in the center of Girona, and after a 4-minute walk, I was already at my little apartment!
