This Privacy Statement describes what personal data we collect from you when you use the 'Odisee eBooks Apps' applications.

Odisee is the data controller of the personal data it collects through the 'Odisee eBooks Apps' applications.

What personal data do we process and for what purpose?

With the Odisee eBooks Apps, students can consult an electronic version of their compulsory course texts via tablet. There is also a web version available, see: ebooks.odisee.be.

Information provided by you

Odisee processes the personal data you provide us with.

In order to use these applications, the following personal data are required: your username (Odisee account) and password.

The applications will also process the information you provide when you download and use this application.

For the purpose of this application, personal data will be collected from our administration, more specifically: your first name, your last name and a unique ID.

In the application, you can make personal notes, the content of which is entirely up to you.

If you provide, publish or share personal data about others by means of this application, you are responsible for this and Odisee assumes that this has been done with the consent of these third parties.

If you become a member of a group based on a code that is made public by the teacher, you give the teacher permission to see your first name, your last name and your notes in the e-book.

Automatically collected information

In addition to the information provided by you, this application also collects certain data automatically through the use of cookies (small text files stored in the user's browser). In particular, the following personal data may be processed: your IP address, browser type, device type, geographical position, data relating to your use, your unique ID, the various time details per visit.

These applications use cookies to identify you and remember your preferences, for the sole purpose of providing you with the requested service.

To whom do we transfer your personal data?

Your personal data will be transmitted to the technical infrastructure and hosting provider (Three Ships) who is qualified as processor by the controller.

Furthermore, the personal data can be passed on to others if this is legally required, for example to comply with a summons or a similar legal procedure.

Storage period

Your data will be kept for the time necessary to provide the service you have requested or for the purposes set out in this document.

You may stop the collection of data at any time by uninstalling the application or ceasing to use the website.

What are your rights with regard to your personal data?

You have several rights with regard to your personal data. More specifically, you have the right to:

  • Ask us to access the personal data we process about you and request a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • Ask us to update or correct your personal data;
  • Ask us to delete your personal data;

If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please send an e-mail toict-icto@odisee.be.

You can view, edit or delete the data you entered in the application at any time by logging in.

If you are not satisfied with the way in which we process your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority.

All the information we collect and process about you.

Controller

The natural person, legal entity, public administration or any other body, association or organisation that has the right, possibly jointly with another data controller, to make decisions regarding the purposes and methods of processing personal data and the means used to do so, including the security measures related to the operation and use of this application.

The Processor, unless otherwise stated, is the owner, by license, of this application and is responsible for managing and providing all data on this application on behalf of users.

Processor

The natural person, legal entity, public authority or any other body, association or organisation authorised by the Processor to process the personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
