Who is eligible for this grant?

The generic grant is primarily intended for students with fewer opportunities. However, other students may also be eligible for a (more limited) generic grant.

Who is considered a student with fewer opportunities?

You belong to this group if you are:

  • a student receiving a Flemish study grant;
  • a student with a disability or special needs, including:
    • Students recognised by the Flemish Agency for Persons with Disabilities (VAPH)
    • Students recognised by the Federal Public Service Social Security – Directorate-General for Persons with Disabilities (DG HAN)
    • Students who incur additional costs because of a disability or special needs, as verified by STUVO;
  • a working student, including:
    • students enrolled in a work-based learning pathway;
    • students who work at least 80 hours per month or 50% employment under a salaried contract subject to social security contributions;
    • self-employed students whose self-employment is their main occupation;
  • a near-grant student: a student who meets the nationality and study requirements for a Flemish study grant but is not awarded one and is therefore entitled to a reduced tuition fee. These students are registered as such in the institution's student administration system.

How much is the grant?

What requirements do you need to meet to apply for the Generic Grant?

Odisee awards these grants to students who:

  • spend at least 60 days abroad;
  • choose a study exchange or traineeship with a recognised partner outside Europe;
  • submit their application on time through Mobility Online.
  • upload all required documents during the application process if they wish to be considered for a grant;
  • carefully review the application form to see what applies to you and make sure you have these documents on hand when you apply for an exchange.
  • check the application form carefully to see which documents apply to their situation and have these ready when applying for their exchange.

Important: If you receive a traineeship allowance of €1,000 or more from your host organisation, you are not eligible for a Generic Grant. Instead, you will receive a grant from Odisee’s Internationalisation Fund worth €1,000.

Did not receive the grant?

Students who apply for the Generic Grant but are not awarded one may still be eligible for a grant of up to €1,000 from Odisee’s Internationalisation Fund.
