Studying within or outside Europe
Would you like to gain international experience during your studies? Through ISP – Mobility Option 3, you can study for at least 60 days at a partner institution, either within or outside Europe. This gives you the opportunity to enrich your education in an international setting. Depending on your situation, you may be eligible for an Erasmus+ grant or a Generic Grant. If you do not meet the requirements, you will not receive a grant.
The first steps of the application process are the same for every type of exchange. You can find them on the application page below.
Where can you study?
Would you like to study abroad for a semester? If so, please contact your departmental coordinator internationalisation. They will assist you and explain the available destinations. You can check the course offerings for your programme to see at which stage of your studies you can go on an exchange.

Please wait to contact a partner university until you have been nominated by the International Relations Office.

Preparation
Did you apply for an exchange programme and receive a positive or postponed advice from your programme in February or June*? If so, you can take the next steps below.Once you’ve been nominated by the partner institution, start the registration process and draw up a (preliminary) study plan, even if you haven’t received a final advice yet. Be sure to keep a close eye on the partner institution’s deadlines!
Also, start looking into housing, prepare the necessary documents (such as your passport and visa), and review your insurance options.*You can find the selection criteria set by your programme in the Education and Examination Regulations on the student platform via www.odisee.be

Advice
After the examination period, your departmental coordinator internationalisation will let you know whether or not you can go on an exchange. If you didn't receive a positive advice, you can contact your departmental coordinator for more information.

Track your exchange through Mobility Online
All the paperwork for your exchange is handled through Mobility Online.
- Read the travel advice and check it off.
- Upload your language test results. You will receive more information about the language test via email.
- Together with your contact person and the partner institution, you’ll draw up a Learning Agreement (LA). This is a personalised study plan.

Learning Agreement for Studies
No later than 1 month before the start of your exchange (and no later than the ISP deadline), you must have a final Learning Agreement signed by you, your departmental coordinator, and the partner institution abroad.
For a study period of 3 months, you must put together a programme worth approximately 20 European Credits (ECs); for 4 months, this is approximately 24 ECs; and for a full semester, 30 ECs.
Please note! A “Learning Agreement for Studies” is only academically recognized if it has been signed by all parties. Once signed, you are required to adhere to this study programme.
Minor changes to the Learning Agreement may still be made, provided all parties give their consent and the changes are made within 1 month of the start of the exchange.
IMPORTANT! You must register any changes to your “Learning Agreement for Studies” via Mobility Online. Notify your departmental coordinator and the International Relations Office of these changes.

Grant Agreement
Once your Learning Agreement has been signed by all parties, you will receive your grant agreement. Read this document carefully, sign it, and upload it to Mobility Online. You have to do this even if you are not receiving a grant.
Checklist for the Start of Your Exchange Programme
Is your file fully completed? If so, you’ll receive the first installment of the grant (70%) before departure:

Proof of the online language test uploaded (only for Erasmus+ students if your exchange is not in your mother tongue)

During your exchange
During your stay, you will stay in touch with your departmental coordinator internationalisation. They will help monitor the quality of your study programme.
After your exchange
Have you completed all the steps listed below? If so, you’ll receive the second installment of your grant (30%).
Please note! If your exchange ended up being shorter than originally planned, your grant amount will be recalculated.
Checklist After Your Exchange Programme

Have your Study Certificate filled out and signed by the partner institution, and upload it to Mobility Online. This document lists the exact dates of your exchange.

Upload your Transcript of Records showing the grades for your exchange courses.

Complete the online Erasmus+ survey and upload the proof to Mobility Online (for Erasmus+ students only).

Did you travel sustainably? Then upload proof of your outbound and return trips.

Participate in the mandatory follow-up session organised by your programme or the International Relations Office.
How are your grades from abroad converted?
The grades you obtain during your exchange are converted using the ECTS conversion table, as described in the Education and Examination Regulations.
