Erasmus+ Programme
Long-Term Mobility
Erasmus+ is a programme of the European Commission. The programme provides financial support to students who wish to study or complete a traineeship abroad, within Europe, during their studies. The grant helps make your international experience more affordable, but it will not cover all your expenses abroad.
Odisee participates in the Erasmus programme through the Erasmus Charter and operates in accordance with the corresponding ECHE guidelines.
Currently, an Erasmus+ grant is guaranteed for all students going on an exchange within Europe.
You are not eligible for an Erasmus+ grant if you plan to do your traineeship at a European institution, an organisation that manages EU programmes, or a national diplomatic representation linked to your nationality.
Destinations
With an Erasmus+ grant, you can go on exchange to the countries listed below. Please note that Odisee does not offer study opportunities in every country. For study exchanges, you can choose from the partner institutions that have an exchange agreement with your programme. You can find the available destinations here.
- EU member states: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, the Czech Republic, Sweden
- European Free Trade Association: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway
- Candidate Countries: North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey
- Overseas countries and territories associated with the EU:
- Danish territory: Greenland
- Dutch territories: Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Eustatius, Sint Maarten
- French territories: French Polynesia, French Southern and Antarctic Territories, New Caledonia, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Wallis and Futuna Islands
- Third countries not associated with the program—Region 14: United Kingdom and Switzerland (Switzerland only for internships)
Terms and Conditions
- You are enrolled as a student at Odisee under a degree contract.
- A minimum of 60 days of traineeship or study abroad.
- Your participation(s) in Erasmus+ will not exceed the maximum period of 12 months per academic cycle.
- You will stay in the host country during your traineeship. You will not return home every day.
- Your exchange will not take place in the country where you are a citizen and reside. Example: A student who lives in the Netherlands and studies at a Flemish institution may go on an exchange to the Netherlands but will not receive a grant for it.
- You can find the specific requirements for your programme in the ECTS sheets for the mobility options (available online in the course catalogue).
Your grant amount depends on four factors
The grant consists of two parts
- PART 1: Monthly grant amount
- PART 2: one-time travel allowance

Monthly grant amount based on your destination
The amounts below are the minimum Erasmus+ grant rates and country groups for Call 2025 and Call 2026. Grant amounts and country groups may change from one Erasmus+ call to another. Your Grant Agreement will indicate the exact amount you are entitled to receive.
There are two student categories:
- Category 1: students with a special status (students receiving a Flemish study grant, near-grant students, students with a VAPH certificate, and students in a recognised work-study programme)
- Category 2: students without a special status

PART 2: One-time travel contribution
You will receive either the standard travel contribution or the Green Travel contribution.
If you travel to and from your destination in a sustainable way (green travel), you may be eligible for the Green Travel contribution shown in the right-hand column. To receive this contribution, you must submit the required supporting documents to the International Relations Office at the end of your exchange.
Is your destination less than 500 km from Brussels? The Erasmus+ programme expects you to travel sustainably. If you choose not to do so, you will need to explain your choice in Mobility Online. You can calculate the distance to your destination using the Distance Band Calculator.

The Application Process for an Erasmus+ Grant for a Long-Term Mobility
Make sure to complete your personal information and upload your CV before the deadline. If you do not, you will not be eligible for an Erasmus+ grant.
In some programmes, a late application may also result in a negative recommendation for going on exchange.

Your advice
Your programme decides whether you can take part in an exchange. After the examination period, you will receive one of the following outcomes: positive, conditional, postponed or negative.
If the programme decides to make an exception to the minimum selection criteria, they will explain this decision in writing.

Additional Erasmus+ Support for Students with Disabilities
Financial Support
This funding can help cover costs directly related to your support needs, such as adapted accommodation, travel assistance, medical support, assistive equipment, accessible study materials or a personal assistant, if these costs are not covered by your Erasmus+ grant.
Together with the International Relations Office, you can apply for this additional support. The application is based on an estimate of the actual costs you expect to incur. We must submit the application to the National Agency EPOS at least six weeks before the start of your exchange.
Preparatory visit
A preparatory visit can help you assess whether your planned exchange is feasible and whether the necessary support will be available at your destination. One accompanying person may join you during this visit.
Before the visit, you will discuss your support needs with the inclusion coach on your campus. Together with the International Relations Office, you will then prepare a programme for your visit.
Depending on your needs, the programme may include:
- meeting a local contact person, assistant, support coordinator or buddy;
- checking the accessibility of the campus buildings or traineeship location;
- attending a few classes;
- exploring the route between your accommodation and traineeship location; or
- assessing the accessibility of your accommodation.
Based on the planned programme and your expected travel and accommodation costs, an estimate of the actual costs will be made.
During the visit, you will need to pay the costs yourself. After the visit, you will complete an evaluation form and receive reimbursement based on your actual expenses.
