Occupational Therapy - Exchange Programme

The Erasmus Study of Occupational Therapy offers traineeships in two different domains, combined with several optional courses. Practical skills will be trained in clinical departments, applying the theoretical knowledge from an evidence-based framework. You can also train your research skills, language skills, or technological knowledge by choosing one of the study courses.

You can choose from the following courses

  • Traineeship 1 (12 ECTS) - both semesters

    Traineeship


    In this traineeship, your occupational therapy skills will be trained in a ‘safe’ environment within clinical departments (9 weeks of practice). You will actively participate, observe, and prepare occupational therapy sessions with patients in different settings, guided and supervised by your traineeship coach.

    At the same time, you learn methodological abilities by writing and investigating your clients, their pathology, and occupational problems.

    An important focus of our approach is applying the occupational therapy knowledge, using an Evidenced Based Framework.

    Possible traineeship placements can be offered in clinical departments of physic rehabilitation, neurology, or psychiatry. Other possibilities are traineeships in elderly care or day centres for patients with non-congenital brain injuries.

  • Bachelor project short (3 ECTS) - both semesters

    Short Bachelor Project

    This course emerges you in the occupational science. You develop the life-long-learning ability of investigation. You will learn to think critically using scientific articles to answer clinical questions, write a short literature review on a topic of your choice and present your results to other students.  

  • International Nursing Education Programme (3 ECTS)

  • Introduction to Dutch Language and Belgian Culture (3 ECTS)

    Dutch course

    This course helps you navigate daily life in Belgium, focusing on speaking and listening in Dutch. It offers an excellent introduction to the language and includes cultural activities, mainly in the first week, before your programme or traineeship starts.

    Begin with an intensive welcome week to meet fellow international exchange students and explore Brussels and Belgium. Once the semester starts, classes are held weekly in the evening, perfect for those with traineeships. The course takes place in the heart of Brussels at our partner campus, CVO Lethas.

  • Superdiversity and Healthcare (3 ECTS) – both semesters

    Superdiversity in Healthcare ( 3 ECTS)

    The role of healthcare professionals is rapidly evolving. They must work interdisciplinarity, using their knowledge and skills to manage themselves and their practice ethically and sustainably. Insights into diversity-sensitive care, climate issues, and digitalization are essential. This blended module introduces you to this broader scope.

    The learning path includes an online live introductory lecture, an e-course, and a debate you are physically present at, developing a task with other students. The e-course is an individual process that students must complete within a specified period and covers the following topics:

    • Advanced working life skills
    • Ethical reasoning, responsible research, and science communication
    • Future insights: Green Deal, superdiversity, and digitalization

Credits

  • Number of European credits: 12-24 ECTS.
  • These courses are open to Occupational Therapy students.
  • Traineeships are offered in different domains of the work field, working four days a week.
  • Autumn or spring semester.

  • A Buddy-student accompanies incoming students.
