Job Descriptions - Student Council Odisee

Find out below which positions we are seeking candidates for and exactly what this job entails.

Become Student Rep of your programme!

If you choose to become a representative of your programme, you will become the point of contact for your fellow students. You will become the link between the students of your programme and the Student Council. This means you will participate in the Student Council meetings (about 3 meetings per semester). These meetings are open to all students, so even if you are not elected, you are definitely welcome here. You participate in debates on all kinds of topics that concern students, and you defend the interests of your fellow students. That way, you can provide input for the institution's policy. Moreover, you have the opportunity to participate actively if you choose to take up a mandate within the Student Council.

In addition, you are also the link between the students of your study programme and your lecturers. The elected candidates will be invited to the programme meetings. We refer to these as "Core Teams" . They deal with two main aspects of the programme: the curriculum-related (including the subjects and the structure of the programme) and the student-related (including the exams and individual study programmes). These meetings bring together faculty, staff and students. The number of places for students in these meetings varies by programme. As a student, this is the perfect opportunity to make suggestions in order to improve your study programme.

Become the voice of your campus!

If you choose to become a Campus President, you will become the point of contact for your fellow students. You will be part of the student representation in the Campus Council. This is where all matters relating to student facilities are discussed on campus. You help debate various aspects of campus life, such as food (the student restaurant), mobility, student housing, student guidance, etc.

Like programme representation, campus representation happens at different levels. First, there is the student delegation of the Campus Council. Besides students, this council also includes teachers and other staff of the institution.

At the beginning of the academic year, the student delegation appoints its representatives to the overarching STUVO Council. This is the body in which STUVO+ policy is shaped.

In addition, you build an optimal learning and campus environment together with elected and non-elected student representatives from your campus. You coordinate this group of students. You understand the needs and wishes of the students on your campus and know exactly how to translate them to the staff on your campus.

On our 'mixed' campuses in Aalst, Brussels and Ghent, we maintain close contact and consultation with the KU-Leuven students on these campuses. Student needs are often communal in nature. Right? So we always strive for consensus here.

Finally, you also sit on the Executive Board of the Student Council. This is the vibrant heart of the Student Council.
