Artist Status
Are you active in the cultural sector as a musician, actor, performer, or similar? And are you putting a lot of effort into launching or further developing your career? If so, we’ll work with you to see how we can support you. This can be done by providing information relevant to you, offering a customized program, arranging special educational accommodations, and/or referring you to support outside of Odisee.
Depending on whether you meet the requirements, you may be granted A status, B status, or C status. Each of these statuses entitles you to certain educational and/or exam accommodations. Based on the application you submit, the review committee will grant one of these three statuses or deny the application.
Students must submit their application via the student status application system, no later than the deadline for submitting the ISP (before 15 october if you want to start in the first semester, before 25 february if you want to start in the second semester) or as soon as possible after the circumstances have arisen.
With this status, you can apply for accommodations and/or obtain a certificate for your scholarship from the Flemish government.
Facilities
👉 What are special accommodations?
An accommodation refers to provided assistance, an adjustment, … on the basis of a valid reason. In your situation, this means that we will assess whether any accommodations are needed to make it easier for you to combine your study program with your performances. This involves individual, tailor-made arrangements.
Please note: submitting an application does not automatically mean you will receive these accommodations. Together we will take a broad perspective to determine what will best help you.
Just like any Odisee student, you can make use of inclusive facilities. These are available to all students, even if you do not have special status.
👉 Who can apply?
Students who are active in the cultural or artistic sector and are working intensively to launch or develop a professional artistic career can apply for artist status when educational and/or exam accommodations are necessary to combine those activities with their degree program.
To be eligible for artist status, students must meet one of the following conditions:
- Or meet all three of the following cumulative conditions:
- students produce artistic work on commission, as self-employed individuals, or as entrepreneurs;

- students demonstrate through a portfolio that they are actively engaged at a high level in a cultural activity during the academic year.
- Or, they must meet all three of the following cumulative conditions:

- Students demonstrate through a portfolio that they have been actively engaged in a cultural activity at a high level during the academic year.

Certificate for your Scholarship from the Flemish Government
If you are enrolled for fewer than 54 credits, you will no longer be eligible for a scholarship from the Flemish Government. This condition does not apply to certain exceptional categories. With a certificate confirming your Special Status, you can still apply for a scholarship as a student in one of these exceptional categories.
The deadlines listed on this page apply only to obtaining accommodations at Odisee. If you need a certificate for the application of your scholarship from the Flemish Government, you may do so at any time during the academic year.
