SimBIoZo, a repurposing project on Odisee University of Applied Sciences’ Aalst campus, sustainably creates 804.1 m² of simulation-based education space, where students from various programmes train in a realistic care environment using the latest technological tools and methods.

Start 2 Reuse Insulation is committed to bringing together and increasing the knowledge around the reuse of insulation materials. Through a digital tool it is possible to find out whether insulation is still reusable and in what application.

We design circularly responsible solutions for the foundation base and the adjoining floor system. To enable future reuse of construction materials at the foundation level, there is a need for an accessible and easy-to-use design guide that clearly presents widely supported solutions.

impaC³t helps cities and construction stakeholders renovate neighborhoods in a collective, affordable, and circular manner. In Ghent, Bruges, and Tienen, technical, social, legal, and financial solutions are being tested in real-world urban renewal projects. The lessons learned are being synthesized into a dynamic decision-making framework for circular neighborhood renovation.

Cathodic protection as a sustainable repair technique for life extension of existing (civil) concrete constructions. Within DUBiT, we try to provide an answer to the pressing question: how can damage to concrete bridges be tackled in a sustainable manner?

A great potential in the responsible handling of our climate lies in the reduction of the environmental impact of building materials and the maximum reuse of building materials.
