Detection dogs can do much more than track drugs or explosives. More and more, we deploy them for innovative projects, from finding rare animals to detecting invasive species. We are working on an evidence-based protocol to determine which applications are both feasible and meaningful. In this way, we bring science and practice together and prepare detection dogs for the ecological challenges of tomorrow.

How do you develop user-friendly AI solutions and responsibly integrate AI tools into the design process? The ULTRA project creates practical guidelines for designing AI interfaces that users genuinely trust, and for responsibly using generative AI tools during prototyping and user research. Through collaboration with Flemish companies, we develop concrete design patterns and an interactive AI design guide.

We want to investigate how raising awareness and sensitizing care providers about the sexual needs and experiences of people with young-onset dementia and their partners can contribute to a positive attitude and improved psychosocial care.

With this project, we set out the outlines for a learning module or practical guide that helps (future) healthcare professionals with a migration background deal with the challenges of discrimination in the workplace.

Imagine this. You are a city architect in 2050. You are helping to build the city of the future. But what does that city look like? Who will live there? Where is room for nature? What do we do with waste? How do we move around? How do we limit our energy consumption?

In this action research, we identify political strategies at various social work practices for people without legal residence and support four practices in designing concrete actions. We evaluate the impact of these concrete political interventions at various policy levels.

With this project, we want to leverage circular collaborations by developing an accessible guidance program for this purpose. After all, a real transition to sustainable development is only possible through joint actions between actors and organizations. We will work with circular entrepreneurs through design science research to guide them in this process.
